Ancestors of Fire

Well it is finally here! My long awaited book cover for Book 2 of The Empowered Spirits Series.
Ancestors of Fire is the story of Aeryn and Angus that you met in book 1, Dragon Lord of Kells.
I am still in the editing process but am hoping Ancestors of Fire will be available by mid spring!
Here is a small excerpt to wet your appetite:

She did not trust him. No, that was not true. He had done nothing to make her distrust him. It was herself she did not trust. Every time he was near her, her palms would grow moist, her heart would flutter and her throat would suddenly go dry where she could not speak without croaking. No, she had wanted this small amount of time to herself in order to put a grip on her traitorous body where he was concerned, but it didn’t look like she had done a very good job at it. His words brought her out of her thoughts.
“You are my wife, Aeryn, whether we both like it or not and I wish to get to know you.” He had stopped near the window and looked out upon the valley and the woods beyond. It was twilight and the moon had not risen as of yet. The last rays of sunlight could be seen diminishing behind a dark cloud.
“No, I do not like it so let us not speak of it again.” she replied grabbing a piece of meat from the platter and wrapping a slice of fresh bread around it.
“Aeryn, we can not undo what your father has done so we might as well make the best of it.”
“I will not make the best of it! There must be a way to nullify this arrangement. I can never be your wife Dravon. Never.” Aeryn stated with conviction, taking a long drink from her mug of ale.
Her heart was beating so fast her breathing was impaired. She could never be anyone’s wife. Never. How could she after what had happened to her? It just wasn’t possible, she thought turning away from him.
“Aeryn.” Angus spoke her name softly from behind her, but she still jumped as his breath stroked her neck. She quickly turned around to face him. When she started to speak he lay his finger upon her lips to silence her. For a moment Angus lost himself within the depths of those deep blue eyes. Whenever he looked at her his chest caved in like someone took a war hammer and thrust it against his lungs. When he saw the despair that had seeped into her depths, all he had wanted to do was kiss away her pain, her hurt, her misgivings and hold her within his arms and never let another bad thing happen to her. He knew something very bad had happened to her when she was imprisoned at Harper’s stronghold, the depth of her pain was almost tangible. When he bent to kiss her moist pink lips, her words stayed his action.
“Please don’t..” she whispered hoarsely.
Angus looked deep into her eyes. He saw she was frightened and withdrew his action. He wanted her but not like that.

Virtual Tour with Karina Fabian

First I would like to welcome my guest Karina Fabian. She is on her book tour promoting her story in the anthology Dragon Storm. Please leave comments or questions for her and make her feel welcome.

Unfortunately I will not be on here for a little while. I just had surgery but I had to put this up for you all to get to know Karina. I met her at the Muse Conference last month and she is a doll!

Have fun!

LONG ANTHOLOGY BLURB – Firestorm of Dragons
So you want to know about dragons?

Start with “Dragonscaling!,” a tongue-in-cheek look at a future where the world’s most extreme sport involves the use of genetically engineered creatures. Continue on to read how dragons are kept out of sight in modern Hong Kong in “Dragonkeeper” before turning the page for a humorous look at the importance of listening to one’s mother in “Lessons.”

“The Druid’s Dragon” reveals a possible connection between the ancient people and an enslaved dragon before “Dragon Eye, P.I.” twists all conventions and makes a dragon the lead in a 1940’s-style detective story. “Poison Bird” brings the reader back to modern day for a coming-of-age story told through the eyes of the protagonist’s boyfriend.

“A Reptile at the Reunion” pulls together two things that most people fear: dragons and high school reunions. A hunter learns compassion for his prey in “Dragon Blood” while “No Time for Dragons” takes a humorous tone when an example is made of dragon who is a pesky door-to-door salesman.

“For Your Eyes Only” reveals the power of devotion when lovers encounter a dragon. Both sides of a human and dragon interaction, with wildly different conclusions, are examined in “Shattered Dreams” before the influence of hatred and the cost of sacrifice battle each other in “A Darkness of Spirit.”

“A Firestorm of Dragons” finishes with a trilogy of stories depicting some possible ends of dragonkind. “Dragon Fruit” reveals the happiest of conclusions when a symbiotic relationship between humans and dragons leaves both to lead their own lives. Dragons continue to live on throughout time in “A Dragon’s Dawn,” though they are relegated to lonely and unfulfilled lives. “Inside the Cavern” is the ending no one wishes for the majestic beings, their race dying in obscurity under man’s unyielding pressure.
